If you're in Shah Alam, there's a must-visit culinary gem that you simply cannot overlook: Shaaz Curry House Restoran Nasi Kandar (Shah Alam S19). Nestled at 64, Jalan Nelayan 19/B, Seksyen 19, this Indian Muslim restaurant shines brightly in the vibrant food scene of Selangor, offering a delightful array of dishes that capture the essence of Nasi Kandar and beyond.
What sets Shaaz apart is its authentic offerings that blend tradition and taste. The bustling atmosphere invites you to explore its extensive menu, where you can find everything from the warmly spiced Murtabak Ayam and Murtabak Daging to a selection of Tomyam Soups that range from soothing vegetable options to more hearty meat varieties. Each dish is crafted with special grand spices that enhance flavors and make every bite memorable.
For instance, the Murtabak, starting at a reasonable price of MYR 13.20 for chicken and MYR 14.60 for beef, showcases how the restaurant treats its ingredients with care, lovingly wrapping them inside crispy Roti Canai. One bite, and you’re greeted with a medley of flavors that beautifully harmonize the crispness of the wrap with the savory filling.
The Tomyam Thai Soup is another highlight, offering variations like the Tomyam Sotong and Tomyam Daging, each priced affordably, yet delivering a taste explosion that embodies the perfect balance of heat and zest. Diners rave about the freshness of the curry and the quality of the seafood, making it a must-try dish during your visit.
Customer reviews speak volumes about the friendly service and the variety of available dishes. As one satisfied patron, Transmoshi Johari, has noted, it’s a legendary spot for residents and workers alike, with commendable service and great food variety. Indeed, during peak times—like the day before Ramadan—the restaurant buzzes with activity, showcasing its popularity among patrons.
Of course, the dining experience has minor quirks; feedback indicates lines can form during busy hours, possibly due to limited staff. Yet, the staff's efficiency, coupled with the restaurant's cleanliness, ensures that your wait is worthwhile. Every meal brings comfort, whether it's the crispy fried chicken or flavorful Maggi Goreng, a dish highly recommended by patrons.
In a time where food establishments often strive for modernization, Shaaz Curry House Restoran Nasi Kandar (Shah Alam S19) manages to stay true to its roots while maintaining a welcoming environment. The prices are reasonable, the servings generous, and the community spirit is palpable. For anyone looking to indulge in authentic Nasi Kandar dishes or just find a fulfilling meal, Shaaz should undoubtedly be on your list. Good variety Update 1st April 2023 - still a good nasi kandar, much more crowded than my last visit. Maybe has to do with last day before Ramadan. Still plenty of food choices, Malay dishes also available. Reasonable price and friendly servers.

It’s nice to see clean and bright Mamak restaurants coming up and this SS19 Shah Alam Shaaz is one of the better ones. Serving very good curries and fried chicken, it is best to come during lunch when the food are freshly prepared. Setback of s that only one staff was attending to the customers and the Q is really unnecessary if they have more staffs at the Nasi Kandar section. Another notable food is their Rojak - had bits of potatoes with sweet & spicy Rojak sauce.

Shaaz Restaurant truly delivers an outstanding mamak experience. So far, I've tried their breakfast options—roti canai and nasi lemak—and both were excellent. The nasi lemak was well-balanced, while the roti canai was perfectly fluffy and crispy, complemented by flavorful curries and sambal. Their nasi kandar was equally impressive, with rich, aromatic chai (mixed curries) enhancing the flavors. However, the real star was the fried chicken—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. Beyond the food, the restaurant maintains a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene, which is a top priority for me. The dining area is well-lit, the service is efficient, and the token card system for billing adds convenience. Overall, Shaaz Restaurant has set the bar high for mamak eateries. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu!
